Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it was not possible to have regular events in 2020 like in the past. Nonetheless, Harbour Gate hosted a number of exhibitions that proved to be very successful despite the situation, while adhering to the health and safety cautionary measures. The reason for choosing to have exhibitions was because the relevant work would be displayed for a period of time where people may come and view it as they pleased.

At least four exhibitions and one pop-up were hosted, and partnerships included the “Art at the Harbour” exhibition by Madhvi Dhanak, Bahrain Writers’ Circle, Filipino Creatives Bahrain, Bahrain Photo Club and Ride Nation.

As well as the exhibitions, Harbour Gate saw the unveiling of a sculpture celebrating 100 years of banking in Bahrain. The sculpture was unveiled on the 27th of October 2020. It was done in collaboration with the Bahrain Association of Banks and Pico Bahrain, and sits at the entrance of Harbour Gate.

Habour Gate is looking forward to expanding on successful exhibitions in 2021. So far, three exciting exhibitions are already in the pipeline. The “Confluence” exhibition by Bahrain Writers’ Circle will be returning from the 2nd to the 14th of October. For March, the “Mother & Child” exhibition which will feature artwork by mothers and their children in honor of Bahraini Mother’s Day. It will run from the 20th of March to the 2nd of April. Finally, Harbour Gate will see the return of the “Noon” calligraphy exhibition, its second year running. This exhibition will be on display from the 6th to the 21st of April.

The partnerships with a variety of different charitable institutions have undoubtedly helped the organisers raise their profile in the society. The aim is to offer a welcoming and supportive environment to organisers and the public by hosting interesting functions all year round at Harbour Gate, such as the regular “Art at the Harbour” exhibitions. 2021 will see the return of these ever so successful exhibitions with aiming on positioning Harbour Gate as a lively social hub and popular lifestyle destination on its own in the heart of Manama serving the growing population who will be living in Harbour Heights and Harbour Row, located within the Bahrain Financial Harbour masterplan.
